Insert Funny Title Here

I promise, next week, I’ll have an actual funny title, but this week kicked my ass up and down a hill. Between health issues, money issues, and work issues all deciding to tag team me, I’ve been wrecked all week.

And yet! I got things done.

So between the heavy editing of Howls and Thunder from the last two weeks and having to edit as my beta reader goes through Wolves and Rain, I’m burnt out on my babies over there. I got the scene layout done and finished the first two chapters of Moonlight and Storms, but I’m going to breath for a minute before I tackle the rest sometime in the next few weeks.

Instead, I spent this week writing about two thousand words for Lucky and starting Ace of Swords. Apparently I’m in a mafia mood, because I’ve already got 8,000 words done for that one, which means I’m almost a fourth of the way done. Not surprising because the Tarot Mafia stories are all going to stick between 40,000-60,000 words each. That’ll still be a stupidly huge number of words when the series finishes, but it’s something at least.

In crazily depressing news: I made reference images for every major character in the entire Tarot Mafia series. It took me days to get names and images and make picrew references. They’re all gone. Somehow someway the file I saved them all on got deleted, so I’ve only got the ones I made for Ace of Wands

There was a lot of controlled breathing when I learned that.

I’m trying to buckle down and get as much writing as I can done these next few days. I’ll be taking a two-week vacation at the end of June, so I want to have enough done that I’ll spend my day-long daytrip just editing on my tablet. While possibly holding my husband hostage and making him listen to my books while our baby sleeps in the back seat.

In fantastic news, I got amazing art from artfullylinzee this week. It came out amazing, and, even with me being burnt out on Wolves and Rain, I’m so happy to see it. It makes everything feel so much more real in a way I can’t explain. I’m still in talks with another artist, but, like I said, money issues cropped up so it’ll have to wait for now.

All in all, I’m counting this week as a win. I didn’t get what I planned done, but that’s the point of having so many WIPs at one time. When the ADHD demands I do something else, I still have plenty of other things to work on.

I’ve got a general idea of the next book I’m adding since I finished Biker Blues, but I’ve got to make the conscious decision on if I’m going to do the crazy thing and start yet another series, or if I’ll hold off on that idea until I finish at least either Marriage in Reverse or Lucky. Especially since I should probably replace Biker Blues with the next in the series… which I’ll name eventually.

For this coming week, I plan on hopefully getting at least halfway through Ace of Swords. I know I was overambitious last week about Moonlight and Storms, but I’m breezing through this first draft of Ace of Swords, so I’m hoping to keep that momentum. As far as editing goes, if I get the editing bug, I’ll start hard editing Biker Blues so I can start working on the sequel with a firm foundation.

I’m also trying to give myself some things to enjoy in my downtime. I can’t play my usual relaxation games like Dragon Age or Baldur’s Gate III since my loving toddler is very invested in “helping” whenever she can. Instead, I’ve been getting some reading done. I got started on The Undertakers by Shona Knight on my Kindle. I also started watching One Piece and reading Skip Beat again. You know, like a masochist.

All in all, things got rough, but they’re constantly getting better every day.
